Visit Ben Franklin’s house, the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall (where they signed the Constitution in 1787) and the Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – doesn’t that sound like an awesome way to spend Constitution Day 2012?

By entering Constituting America’s 3rd Annual We the People 9/17 Contest, you could win a free trip to help celebrate Constitution Day, September 17th in Philadelphia.  Hurry, though! The contest deadline is July 4, 2012!

Constituting America was founded by radio host, commentator, author and actress Janine Turner and is co-chaired with Cathy Gillespie, in order to promote awareness and understanding of our most important founding document, the Constitution of the United States.

The contest is open for kindergarteners through college (including law school – new this year!). If you are in elementary school, the categories you can enter include Poem or Holiday Card. If you are in middle school, you can enter in the following categories: Song or Essay. For high school students, the categories are Short Film, Public Service Announcement, Song or Essay. College and Law School students can enter in the following categories:  Short Film, Public Service Announcement, Song or Speech.

You can download the rules for each age group here but the theme is to draw, write, sing or speak about the Constitution in the medium you prefer. See the rules for the specific theme for each category.

You can enter on-line or you can send your entries to:

Judges for the contest include award-winning filmmakers, Grammy-nominated songwriters, a presidential staff member and successful artists. Meet who they are here.

What better way to spend some time this summer? Dig deep into the Constitution, learn a little bit about our history and you too might be a winner in September!
